I was ready to quit.
December is typically a challenging month for me, energy-wise.
While I have (mostly) recovered from nearly 12 years of chronic fatigue, the winter months in Ontario still wreak havoc on me.
Without the sourceful, strong midday sun, my energy tanks and I am left having to make hard choices about where to spend my time and limited energy.
It’s not the cold that bothers me, it’s the lack of naturally acquired vitamin D.
(Good for what might ail you…but that’s the subject of another blog.)
And then this week, an email exchange with an old friend reminded me why I write and why I won’t quit.
Not yet.
I write this blog because I believe that what is wanted and needed in the world are places where people can find reliable resources that they, that you, dear reader, can explore in a kind and compassionate environment that encourages open dialogue, critical thinking, and genuine hope.
I find my hope and inspiration by spreading it.
During these last 2 weeks, there have been cracks in the narrative that encourage that hope and inspire me not to give up before we cross the finish line.
In Canada, a Liberal Member of Provincial Parliament in Ontario publicly acknowledged the lack of justification for the segregation of the unvaccinated…
“…those that are double vaccinated can actually contract the disease and continue to spread it, and not even know that they’re doing it, because they’ve been vaccinated.”
This is no small event in a province where the government has created so much fear that people have succumbed to showing their papers with barely a blip of dissent.
Where a large portion of the population are voluntarily wearing masks outdoors, on bicycles, and on nature trails — while they’re alone.
One local hero who's emerged out of the ashes of democracy is MPP Roman Baber.
Kicked out of caucus for opposing lockdowns, he now stands as an independent against unscientific mandates.
He posted these good news cracks in the narrative…
The vaccine is not a panacea, but rather one tool in the C-19 toolbox.
In the US, California Governor, Gavin Newsom, acknowledged the role of seasonality with C-19.
In other words, a leading public official has said what the science has been saying — the virus comes and goes, on its own, just like the flu.
We don't need to panic when the next wave comes again.
And we don't need lockdowns, masking, and social distancing to end the season.
The acknowledgement of seasonality cracks open the door to letting go of the zero-covid fantasy of wiping out this now endemic virus and focusing our attention on how best to protect and care for the vulnerable.
And then just days ago, this national court case was announced, challenging the validity of travel bans for the unvaccinated…
“Medical and scientific evidence establishes the following, to date:
The new Covid vaccines do not prevent the transmission of Covid, in accordance with what the vaccine manufacturers themselves have stated;
Both the vaccinated and unvaccinated can get Covid and can spread Covid, without significant or verified differences between the two groups;
Both the vaccinated and unvaccinated die from Covid;
Both the vaccinated and unvaccinated are being hospitalized with Covid;
Natural immunity in those who have already had Covid is as effective, and likely more effective, than vaccine-induced immunity; and
The new Covid vaccines have harmful side effects, including myocarditis and death, that have caused many Canadians to withhold their informed consent to taking one.
The Covid vaccines are still in clinical trails until 2023.”
To top this off, a major newspaper printed this editorial calling for the resignation of Canada’s chief public health officer, Dr. Theresa Tam...
And the crumbling isn’t just in Canada.
In the UK, this article in the British Medical Journal is hot off the proverbial press…
And in the US, several states are winning the mandate battle...
And just a few weeks ago in Florida, Governor DeSantis banned mandatory vaccines in schools and businesses...
Despite what most of the mainstream media is saying, Governor DiSantis is not some crazy, right-wing Covid denier.
It's true that there has also been bad news lately.
There are desperate attempts to hang onto power and control as the science clearly points to catastrophic mistakes made either intentionally or perhaps out of panic.
But as the science is acknowledged, the justifications crumble.
We must take our good news as it comes.
We can continue to follow the science, and later this week, I'll share how we can follow the law.
In the meantime, we can step into our sovereignty.
I'll leave you with this last bit of inspiration for an open future, brought to you by the sunshine state of Florida...
